The Western Kentucky Pride Association will be hosting several exciting events as part of its "Pride in 09" celebrations.
Since 2009 marks the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, that began the movement for GLBT equal rights, it is only fitting that Remembering Stonewall be the theme for this years events.
Coming up on Saturday May 16th WKPA is hosting a poolside fundraiser party at 1923 Riverbend Dr in Hopkinsville, KY. The fun starts at 6pm and music for your listining or dancing pleasure will be provided by a DJ. Food beverages and Jello shooter will also be available. Suggested donation is $5.00 per person. Pride merchandise will also be on sale.
Then on June 6th the WKPA presents the Mr & Miss Stonewall Pageant which is being held at the Old Opera House in Guthrie Kentucky located at 111 Ewing Street. Admission is $10.00 per person. Must be 18 years of age or older to attend or participate. Contestants will be judges on Sportswear, Eveningwear, Talent and personal interview. More then $250.00 in cash and prizes will be awarded.
On Sat June 27th the WKPA will be at it again and will be hosting a Family orriented picnic with traditional picnic activities, sporting events, food, vendor and information booths, entertainment and more. Admission is free to attend. Put on you Pride colors and come out and celebrate 40 years of history with us. The event starts at Noon and goes till 6pm. Stone Garden, an electic cover and original music rock band will be performing at the event. Additional music for listining and dancing provided by our favorite DJ. The event is being held on the Wolfe Family Farm, 317 Norris Street in Guthrie.
